Glass processing

Cutting

It is the first stage of processing for all processed glasses. Our company offers straight and various shaped cutting from glass plates on CNC (automatic) cutting line of "Glaston" - the joint company of Italy and Finland. While cutting, high-quality diamond as a hard mineral and volatile cut oil with special technical features for preventing invisible cracks in the process of breaking are used.
max size of glass: 3700 mm x 2750 mm
thickness of glass: 3 mm – 19 mm

Edging

As glass is a solid substance, the edges become uneven while being cutting , and this is not effective both visually and in terms of safety. To eliminate the sharpness, the edge of glass is contacted with special edging and polishing stones under 45˚ and 90˚ angles and as a result fully polished, various shaped, safe surfaces are obtained.

Glass is processed at exact sizes and without any diagonal difference, as double edger simultaneously edges two parallel sides of glass. We should note that uniformity of diagonals is of great importance in construction sector.

Glass with non-rectilinear edges is ideally edged with curvilinear edging. And this allows embodying special styles in various interior and exterior works.

Vertical, curvilinear and double edging equipments manufactured by "Z.Bavelloni" - Italian company.

Double edging

Thickness of glass: 3mm - 19mm
Min and max width of glass: 300mm - 4000mm

Notching

In order to fasten various accessories, as well as perpendicularly placing any tool on glass, notching on it is necessary. Notching is carried out in compliance with approved drafts, as such cuts are made with CNC equipments.

We use the equipments manufactured by "Z.Bavelloni" - Italian company.

Manufacture of toughened glass

Tempered glass is made of annealed glass that has gone thru thermal tempering process. After cutting, edging, washing and drying procedures the glass is placed onto a roller table, taking it through a furnace that heats it above its annealing point of about 650 ˚C. At the next step the glass is rapidly cooled by forced air.The aim is to create expansion in glass and compression on its surface area, and to increase impact and heat resistance by maintaining physical features of glass. It will usually shatter into small fragments instead of sharp shards when broken, making it less likely to cause severe injury and deep lacerations. For that features, toughened glass is included to the class of safety glass and is widely used in interior design, single-layer glazing, in making insulated glass units and multilayer laminated glass.

Advantages of toughened glass:
  • Impact resistance is 6-7 times more in comparison with ordinary glass
  • Heat-resistant (nearly 200˚C)
  • High flexure resistance – 120 N/mm2 (ordinary glass -60N/mm2)
  • Divided into tiny blunt pieces that don’t cause injury, when is broken
  • Toughened glass can’t be processed, hewed, cut and drilled.

Our company manufactures toughened glass using Finnish equipment - “Tamglass”.

Min size of glass: 250mm x 100mm
Max size of glass: 3900mm x 2440mm
Thickness of glass: 4mm - 19mm

Manufacture of multilayer laminated glass

Multilayer glass is obtained by uniting two or more glass sheets, with one and more layers PVB (butyral resin) material under heat and pressure. Laminated glass is safe when is broken, because its pieces don’t spread and so prevent injury, also prevents foreign bodies to pass from either side to the other side. Its application on ceilings and bent (under angle) structures is necessary. Toughened glass is used in manufacture of multilayer glass, in order to increase safety.

Extent of people’s and their properties safety, thievery, vandalism, armed attack and explosion protection is defined by composition of multilayer glass and number of PVB layers in space.

Advantages of multilayer laminated glass:
  • Impact resistance and remaining in position is important in terms of protection.
  • Unavailability of large fragments and sharp-pointed pieces while breaking prevents people’s injury.
  • Important for protection against firearms of various calibres, splinters appeared as a result of terror and explosion, as well as against flame and sound waves during explosion.
  • PVB that is used in multilayer glass has the character of silencer.
  • PVB allows preserving natural colour of things for long period, as it does not let UV rays in.
  • Through the use of multilayer laminated glass and polymer in manufacturing process, bulletproof, impact resistant, armoured glass is obtained.
Glass constructions are widely used in modern architecture. The glass, giving interior and exterior of buildings aesthetic effect, combining different functions, should ensure people’s safety, as well. With the objective of ensuring safety, bulletproof, impact resistant, armoured glasses are used in construction. Such glasses are made for protection against attack, impact, vandalism. Armoured glasses should be used in commercial centres, banks, shops, pawnshop facilities, security posts of important facilities, police departments, etc.
“Glass House” offers the customers bulletproof, impact resistant, armoured glass.

Armoured glass is classified due to its bullet-proof capacity. The superior class is the third protection class. The glass included in this class resist bullets shot by AKM-type submachine gun (57-H-231 bullet, calibre 7, 62 mm).

We render our customers high-quality service by assembling the laminated glass line of “Bovone”, “Maroso” – Italian companies.

Maximum size: 4500mm x 2600mm
Minimum size: 300mm x 550mm
Maximum thickness: 80mm

Insulated Glass Units

Insulated glass is a closed hermetic chamber consisting of two glasses filled with air or gas, as well as united with spacer. The principal advantage of such structure is to reduce quantity of heat (Ug –heat transfer coefficient) lost in glazed area, by applying heat insulation property of air or gas.

In modern architecture, glass has become number one among the construction materials due to its fantasy. Glazing in buildings and facilities has almost reached maximum level. In this case, a lot of factors, especially while glazing facades, should be taken into consideration in architecture;
  • Sun protection
  • Heat insulation, energy conservation
  • Sound insulation
  • Light transmittance
  • Safety
Today, Glass House makes high-quality insulated glass units of various types combining these features that meet global standards, through modern European equipments and experienced staff.
Sizes of insulated glass units: min. 190 mm x 350mm

max. 2700mm x 4000mm
Thickness of insulated glass units: from 12 mm to 60 mm
Thickness of glasses: from 3 mm to 15mm
Width of spacer: from 6 mm to 24 mm

Since heat energy conservation is one of the principal factors, energy-efficient insulated glass units are among the most important spheres.

Energy-efficient insulated glass units

Innovations in technology of coated glass were the next step in increasing heat insulation. More effective energy-efficient insulated glass has been obtained as a result of coating glass with various metals. Such glass is at the same time referred to as “low-emission”, “heat-insulated” or “LOW-E”.

Solar insulated glass units

Solar insulated glass units are made of solar control glass with hard coating. Depending on colour and thickness, solar factor can change between 40% and 80%.

Multifunctional insulated glass units

By making combinations of various types out of glasswork obtained through manufacture, insulated glass units reflecting some functions are made. Here are some of the combinations:

Enhancement of heat insulation + sun protection

Some of solar insulated glass units is multifunctional and at the same time have low emission feature (heat insulation enhancement). Otherwise, glasses with two of the features are used.

Heat insulation + sun protection +sound insulation.

Effective series of solutions for enhancing sound insulation: (depending on existing requirements);
  • Asymmetric insulated glass units (consisting of two glass of different thickness)
  • Insulated glass unit consisting of laminated glass with multilayer PVB film on one or both sides
  • insulated glass unit consisting of glass with multilayer PVB film with nature of silencer on one or both sides
Two-step insulated glass units

As air space increases heat insulation, the next stage in this sphere was two-step insulated glass units, that is to say, insulated glass units with two air spaces, consisting of three glasses. Such insulated glass units are used when Ug result is required to be lower – lower than1vt / m2k). However, two-step insulated glass units have some insufficiencies, as well. Insulated glass units, because of being thick and heavy, can’t always be applied while glazing facades.

Stained Glass

Stained glass is a combination of art and architecture. For making such glass, silhouette of decorative image is outlined in black or coloured contours on glass surface. After it dries within 24 hours, areas between the contours are stained proper to image. Various standard colours over 150 and making any colour are of great importance in obtaining many-coloured image.

Besides, availability of the equipment to work in 3D mode allows carrying out staining work on flexed glass.
Stained surface of stained glass is recommended to put inside the insulated glass units.

Applied colours are made in England and this maintains brightness, flexibility, technical composition and other features for long years due to its originality.

English equipment - “CRİ 3D” is used.

Sandblasting

Sandblasting is the process of propelling abrasive material at high velocity to clean or etch a surface. Sandlasted glass gives a fascinating look to homes, offices and stores. The most popular architectural uses of sandblasted glass are partitions, doors and shower surroundings. One of the noticeable advantages of sandblasted glass is its ability to reduce the appearance of fingerprints on glass. Sandblasted glass may have frosted appearance or different textures that make fingerprints or smudges difficult to be seen than if the glass was left as it is.

Satin and decorative glasses

Such glass is manufactured obtaining various decorative images on its surface through chemical intervention or making it completely frosted glass, by following particular specifications. Our company makes more than 30 kinds of such glass at present. Satin and decorative glasses are mainly made in white and brown colours.
